iTel released a lot of low-end devices this year, 2019. In fact, we can consider 2019 to be the year with the highest amount of Android phones from this company. And among the devices the company released, is the iTel P33. The iTel P33, as stated earlier, is a low-end phone, so it has got nothing special to offer. But if you would be buying a low-end Android phone anytime soon, we consider the iTel P33 to be one of those items you should take into consideration.
Design and Display
The design of the iTel P33 is just like that of a typical low-end smart device. The phone comes with a plastic casing, which is available in three colours, which are: black, blue, and champagne gold. In other words, most people would be able to get the product in a colour they find pretty cool. The smartphone has got some thickness, but not to an annoying extent. When looking at the product, from afar, the device looks like a mid-range phone, and that is pretty cool. In summary, we would be awarding the P33 a 4-star rating, in the aspect of design.
The display featured by the iTel P33 is not a TFT display. Rather than having a TFT display, the phone comes with in-plane switching (IPS) liquid crystal display (LCD). And we are glad with this design decision. And as regards the size of the display, the display of the P33 measures about 5.50 inches. The product claims its resolution to be about 720 x 1,440 pixels. With a 5.50-inch screen having such a resolution, we are quite confident that the graphics of the phone would not be disappointing. But we are quite uncertain how many point-touch the touchscreen of the phone is.
The computing power of the iTel P33 is just as expected. It does not fall below expectations or exceed expectations. The device comes powered by the MediaTek MT6580 chipset, an item having a total of four cores. And these four cores are processors capable of being clocked at 1.30 GHz. With a 1.30 GHz quad-core chipset, the P33 is expected to perform well, when used for simple tasks. However, if you plan using the device to do things like playing heavy games, you might end up disappointed with the performance of the chipset.
The MediaTek MT6580 chipset might handle a lot of computing tasks of the iTel P33, but it does not handle its graphics-related tasks. As typical CPU are not optimized for graphics-related tasks, the phone also features the Mali-400 MP2 graphics processing unit. The Mali-400 MP2 graphics processing unit is an item we have seen in a lot of low-end devices — another way of saying that there is little to worry about, in this aspect.
The main memory of the iTel P33 has a capacity of about 1 GB. Looking at who and what the product was designed for, we do not consider a 1 GB RAM a bad thing.
OS and Storage
The operating system powering the iTel P33 is the Go edition of the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. Equipping the smartphone with a standard version of the Android OS would have been a bad idea. The reason for saying this is that the standard version requires more computing power, to deliver a good user experience. Without running the Go edition, users of the phone might experience a lot of lag on their phones. However, the fact that the Go edition is lighter, does not mean it is missing a lot of cool things.
The iTel P33 has got internal storage of about 16 GB, our major reason for awarding the smartphone a 5-star in this aspect. Our reason for this is that most low-end devices come with storage of 8 GB. With 16 GB, a user of the P33 has a lot more storage space. If the device gets used as designed, a storage of about 16 GB would no doubt be enough. For people who desire additional storage, they might want to get a micro SD card. The P33 works with micro SD cards not having more than 32 GB of storage space.
There are a total of three cameras featured by the iTel P33. Of these three cameras, we have two on the rear side of the phone. The third camera of the phone acts as a selfie camera. The camera in front of the smartphone is a 5 MP front camera. This camera has got some enhancement, and its quality is not that bad. The main camera on the rear side of the phone is an 8 MP camera. This 8 MP camera has another 5 MP as its support. Also, the rear side, just like the front of the smartphone, comes with a bright LED flash.
The iTel P33 is a dual SIM smart device, just as expected. However, the phone has no support for 4G networks, but it has got very good support for 2G and 3G networks. If you can get access to a good 3G network, then you probably would not feel the need for a 4G network. And if you still find a good 3G network to be inadequate, you might have to consider using the Wi-Fi of the phone. Also, P33 is a device that can be used as a mobile hotspot.
The iTel P33 has got support for the Bluetooth technology. With its support for Bluetooth there are a good number of things you can do with the device. However, it is quite unclear what version of Bluetooth the phone supports. Also, the phone has got a micro USB 2.0 port, a port that also happen to be a USB on-the-go port.
One of the most impressive things about the iTel P33 is its battery. Despite the fact that the power consumption of this device is pretty low, it still comes with a powerful battery. The battery powering the smartphone is a 4,000 mAh Li-Ion battery.
