Itel is an entry-level smartphone. Selling for about 10,000 NGN, this smart device comes with specs and features many Android users will despise. There is nothing wrong with this smartphone, its just that the smartphone comes with specs and features of only entry-level users will accept. Just like the majority of Android smartphones, the device has two cameras.
Itel A11 Review
In 2017, iTel released A11 for low-end users that are just coming into the Android world. The phone didn’t have any announcement before its release, and this is not of a surprise as there isn’t anything special about the smartphone. A11 was not released alone, the smart device was released alongside some other device similar to it. While it might currently be challenging to get this phone from some physical stores, it is possible to get in on online stores.
iTel A11 is not a 4G smartphone. Since the manufacturer targeted this smartphone at people with a very low budget, it is impossible for them to feature the phone with 4G support. Had it been the phone came with 4G support, its selling price will be higher than it is. However, this smartphone comes with full support for networks in the second and third generation.
The Android platform has evolved greatly in the past 18 months. The state-of-art Android OS has moved from Android Nougat to Android Pie, and very soon, it will move to Android 10. iTel A11 does not feature either Pie or Oreo. It furthermore does not run Nougat. Rather than any of these operating systems, the phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, this is not a problem as the kind of users it was designed for, will hardly have any discontent using this operating system.
In the aspect of the display, iTel A11 is not too bad. The design team of the manufacturer invested some effort into the design of this smartphone. While the smart device does not have a poor appearance, it has a catch in its dimension. The catch about the smartphone is that it is significantly thick. A11 is also small, and this is of no surprise as its display is also small. The smartphone comes in just two colours, and these colours are black and silver.
The display that iTel A11 comes with, is not the popular in-plane switching display featured by many smartphones in the market. Rather than having an IPS display, this smartphone comes with a display that belongs to the TFT family. It is no surprise that the phone comes with this kind of display, looking at the kind of the phone it is. The display has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, and it is furthermore 4.00 inches (10.16 cm) in size.
iTel A11 is championed by a MediaTek chipset. Since the phone is championed by a MediaTek chipset, a user of the phone can be assured that the phone would not break down after some time. This guarantee exists as MediaTek chipsets are well-known to durable chipsets. The MediaTek chipset that this smartphone features, is a quad-core chipset. The cores of the chipset operate at speeds up to 1.20 GHz. This is just 0.10 GHz below the 1.30 GHz seen among many smart devices.
Although iTel A11 is not a powerful smartphone, its graphics related tasks are not recommended being carried out by its processors. As a result, the smartphone has a graphics processing unit which handles the graphics related task of the smartphone. Being explicit, the GPU this smartphone comes with is the Mali-400 GPU. This chipset is a standard GPU for a phone like this.
There is nothing much about the cameras of iTel A11. The smartphone comes with 2 cameras like the majority of Android phones in the market. However, the cameras are not cool. Since the kind of users the phone was designed for, are not picture fans, the cameras featured by the smartphone, are acceptable. The front of iTel A11 is equipped with a VGA camera, while the rear of this smartphone has a 2 MP camera.
While the reader might expect iTel A11 to come with a 1 GB RAM, it does not. It furthermore does not come with a 2 GB RAM. The smartphone comes with a 512 MB RAM, rather than the 1 GB seen in many low-end smartphones. Although this RAM is small for an average smartphone user, this phone will, however, produce a seamless operation, if it is used by the kind of users it was designed for.
While iTel A11 might have disappointed in some aspects, the smart device does not disappoint in the aspect of storage. The smart device comes with 8 GB flash storage. The flash storage which serves as the internal memory of the phone has its operating system on it. Owing to the fact that this smartphone runs Android 6.0, it has more free space than phones that run Android 7.0 Nougat.
The kind of users iTel A11 was designed for, are not people who use their smartphones continuously, for long period. As a result, this smartphone does not come with a powerful battery. The battery of this smartphone has a capacity of 1500 mAh. In addition, this battery belongs fo the Li-Ion family.

To an average Android smartphone user, the version of Android a smartphone runs, is very important. However, it is less likely that the kind of users iTel A11 was designed for, will be concerned about the OS their smartphone runs.
Knowing this, Itel did not equip this smart device with any of the versions of Android considered cool, in 2018. Rather than powering this smart device with one of the latest versions of Android, the manufacturer equipped the phone with an old version of Android.
iTel A11 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow as its operating system. This operating system was released in 2016, and it is now widely considered an outdated OS. Although this OS is not so cool, the manufacturer of the phone cannot be totally rebuked as this smartphone was released in 2017. In 2017, it was okay for a low-end smartphone to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Considering the fact that iTel A11 comes with a 4.00 inches (10.16 cm) display, this smartphone is not a goto phone for someone who will use their phone for long periods. A person that has a low budget may have to consider some other smartphones.
The reason for this is that a 4.00 inches (10.16 cm) is not the best for people who use their phone for long hours. However, if a user plans to use this phone to receive calls and periodically carry out some task on the phone, then a 4.00 inches (10.16 cm) display should not be a problem.
As stated earlier, the display that iTel A11 comes with is not an in-plane switching display. Rather, the phone comes with a display that belongs to the TFT family. As the smartphone is a low-end device, it can not be condemned for having this kind of display.
In addition, iTel A11’s display has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. While it is true that this resolution is very small, it is important to remember that the phone has a small display size. In other words, the pixel density is what really matters. The smartphone has a pixel density of 233 pixels per inch. With this pixel density, the graphics quality of the display should not be bad.
Looking at iTel A11, it can be seen that the designers of the phone invested some effort into its design. However, this is not supposed to mean that the smartphone has an epic design. The point is that the smartphone has a design considered okay, even though it is an entry-level smart device.
Giving details of the smart phone’s appearance, the smartphone is small and thick. There is nothing to worry about the thickness of this kind of smartphone. As expected, the smartphone does not come with a metallic body. Rather, its casing was made with plastic. In addition, the plastic casing of the smartphone can either come in black or silver.
When it comes to Android smartphones, MediaTek dominates, although they are not the best chipset maker in the world. The popularity of MediaTek chipset is due to the fact they reside in the same country where most smartphones come from, China. In addition, MediaTek chipsets are also cheaper, compared to the chipsets of some other manufacturers. While MediaTek chipsets are affordable, they are also durable.
Interestingly, the chipset that powers iTel A11, is a MediaTek chipset. People familiar with the phone industry may not recognize the chipset that champions the phone, due to the fact that it is not often used by manufacturers. The chipset is a quad-core chipset, with 1.20 GHz processors. In other words, iTel A11 can operate at 4.80 GHz (1.20 GHz × 4 cores).
Storage devices are not restricted to mid-range and high-end smartphones. Every smartphone in this present technological age, require a storage space, to operate. While the storage space standard, for high-end smartphones, is 32 GB, that for mid-range smartphones is 16 GB. As expected, the storage space standard for low-end smartphone is less than 16 GB. Being specific, the smartphone comes with an 8 GB internal storage.
iTel A11 does not disappoint in the storage aspect, as the smartphone comes with the 8 GB storage expected of it. For users who have not taken notice, the total free space on smartphones is always less than what are acclaimed in the specs advertised. The reason for this is that the operating systems of smartphones, take some of their storage space.
Haven seen the battery capacity of this smartphone, an individual looking forward to getting this smartphone may feel like holding back. While it is true that a battery of 1500 mAh is not what is seen among the majority of smartphones, it is important to remember that this smart device is just an entry-level smartphone.
In other words, the phone does not need a massive battery, as its hardware are not as power-consuming as hardware of most Android phones in the market. A battery with a massive capacity is a nice-to-have, for this smartphone, not a must-have.
Since the battery of iTel A11 just has a capacity of 1500 mAh, it will be very pointless equipping the phone with a rapid-charge system. When using a good charger, this smart can be fully-charged under 2 hours. In addition, iTel will not equip this phone with such a technology, as they were so concerned about making the phone as cheap as possible.
