Apple hacked by Chinese hackers

Apple has confirmed that it’s App store was hacked as malicious code was found in apps being sold in the App Store which makes this the first successful major attack on the online store.

Apple in its statement said that it found and removed many apps which included a malicious program called Xcode Ghost which is a fake version of Apple’s software development program Xcode that hides malware in otherwise legitimate apps and they stated that they are working with the developers to make sure they’re using the proper version of Xcode to rebuild their apps.

The Xcode Ghost program was uploaded to a Baidu server in China, where developers downloaded the fake software which has since been deleted. Most of the affected apps, such as the ride-hailing service Didi Kuaidi, are most popular in China although some apps have international audiences, such as WeChat.
