Leading Nigerian Internet Service Provider, Swift Networks Limited recently acquired Chromecom, a subsidiary of Monarch Communications Limited. The acquisition is to increase the speed and capacity of Swift’s Network.
The Managing Director of Swift Networks Limited, Mr Charles Anudu in his statement said “As a company, we believe in pursuing strategic initiatives that will continuously reinforce our brand essence and value proposition to our teeming customers.”
He added that “With the additional spectrum from the Chromecom acquisition, the reframing of our WiMAX spectrum for 4G LTE services and the additional base stations deployment, we will deliver an ultra-fast broadband experience comparable to the best anywhere in the world.”
The company plans to build more than 1,000 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) base stations within Lagos and migrate over 100,000 existing WiMAX customers for free to the new 4G LTE network by the third quarter of 2015. The company has been operating only in Lagos but it now plans to expand to Abuja and Port Harcourt.
