NCC statistics show a geometric increase in Nigeria’s mobile internet subscription

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC has revealed that there is a high rise in the number of mobile internet users in the country in January. This was stated in its Monthly Internet Subscriber Data which showed that mobile internet subscribers rose to 81,892,840 in January 2015 from 76,324,632 in December 2014 which makes an additional of 5,570,038 users.

 The network provider with the highest gain is Etisalat which added almost 1 million subscribers; the others had nearly the same rate of increase. In terms of total number of internet subscribers MTN leads with over 39 million users, followed by Globacom at 17+ million subscribers, Airtel has 14+ million subscribers while Etisalat has 10+ million subscribers.

The Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) operators (Multi-Links and Visafone) had 153,798 internet subscribers in January, a decrease from 154,324 in the last quarter of 2014.
