Startimes Nigeria Decoder Prices, Subscription and Channels

StarTimes is gradually becoming a household name in Nigeria due to its cheapness and dishless decoder system. StarTimes is offered by the NTA (Nigerian Television Authority) Star TV Network and is a Direct-to-Home satellite TV broadcast network collaboration between NTA and StarTimes of China. The best feature of the StarTimes service is the fact that it does not require a satellite dish therefore the cost is reduced significantly, installation cost is also eliminated and is not affected by the weather

StarTimes offers 35+ channels at the rate of 1,000 Naira monthly, 55+ channels for 2,000 Naira monthly and 70+ channels for 4,000 Naira monthly.

The StarTimes decoder goes for 5,900 Naira with 1 month free bouquet worth 4,000 Naira and 7,900 Naira for the decoder + 2 months free bouquet worth 8,000 Naira.

The decoder is simply plug and play; just connect it to your television and plug it to a switch and you are good to go. Your normal TV antenna can be used to receive the StarTimes signal but an antenna mounted outside will give you better reception. An external antenna with connecting cable costs 2,500 Naira. Also, whether it is raining, sunny, hazy or cloudy StarTimes reception quality will only be affected a little unlike big satellite dishes.
The channels offered are usually targeted at your location e.g. if you live in Lagos, you will receive NTA Lagos and NTA Zaria if you live in Zaria. The channels cover news  especially NTA as 6 NTA channels are offered, music, Nigerian movies & entertainment, Hollywood movies and entertainment, Indian movies, kid channels, sports, documentaries, lifestyle and TV Guide.
Some of the popular channels offered are:
BBC World News, MGM, Discovery World. Kidsco, TBN,E-Entertainment, CCTV News, BET, FOX, Fashion TV, MTV Base, Bollywood TV, Nickelodeon, NTA International , Silverbird, Galaxy and Channels TV and many more. There is also the opportunity to watch the English Premier League and UEFA champions league once a week live on NTA Sports 24.

For those with signal issues as signal varies with location (if you are closer to an NTA broadcast mast, you will have better reception and vice versa), simply use an external antenna (one with automatic rotation is better) with an internal booster such as Binatone Booster and you are good to go.
